Even though she’s only about 2 years of age, Mavis has already had a pretty rough life. She was kept as an outside dog, never knowing the love and warmth of being a valued family pet, and had a litter of puppies a few months ago. Another rescue organization scooped up the puppies and we simply couldn’t leave Mavis behind.
Mavis is a German Shepherd mix weighing about 50 pounds who came to us in pretty rough shape. She attached herself quickly to her caregiver, likely grateful for getting two square meals a day of quality food. Mavis is a glutton for food, something that her adopter will need to continue working on with her. She is friendly when meeting new people and dogs but her obsession with food, which we think has to do with lack of regular feeding in the past, makes her an unsuitable candidate for a family with young children. Mavis is clean inside and would benefit from some basic training to keep her exuberant jumping in check. Mavis’ adopter will be an experienced dog owner living in either the suburbs or other quiet area as we don’t feel she would transition well to busy downtown city life. She is eager to please and will make a very faithful and loving companion.
Please complete an adoption questionnaire if you are interested in offering Mavis a forever loving home.
